Scope: This web site is designed for the Copyright, Trademark, Privacy and Ethics unit for INP 159 and INP 160 at Washtenaw Community College.


Objectives For INP 160

On successful completion, the student will be able to:

  • Describe copyright law and its relationship to the Internet
  • Define and list four categories of fair use according to copyright law
  • Describe copyright ownership and state four rights of ownership
  • State the duration of copyright
  • Describe when a work enters the public domain
  • Describe issues pertaining to privacy and the Internet, including E-mail, E-commerce, Cross-reference directories, and Newsgroups
  • Explain Internet ethics as it applies to E-mail, spamming, inappropriate material, free speech and open communication
  • Define trademark and its relationship to the Internet

Objectives For INP 159

On successful completion, the student will be able to:
